Welcome from the Head

I would like to warmly welcome you to our excellent school. Our aim at Clarendon Cottage is to

enable every child to realise their true potential by offering a nurturing, family atmosphere that

provides excellent teaching, outstanding pastoral care and plentiful opportunities for your child

to develop and flourish. Working together, we can achieve this.

Whether you are choosing our school to prep your child for secondary school examinations or to

give them the best possible start to their educational journey in their formative years before

entering mainstream education, our thorough, diverse curriculum and high expectations

enables all children to achieve their aspirations. Our children are highly successful in gaining

entry to their choice of secondary school. The experienced teachers work closely with families

throughout the juniors to that support this transition fully.

Our passion at Clarendon Cottage Prep School is ensuring that children become lifelong

learners who are inquisitive, independent and resilient from an early age. We want children to

love their schooling and be active and engaged in what they are learning. By delivering this we

have productive and purposeful classrooms where the children have the space to explore ideas

and extend their knowledge and understanding fully.

A huge strength of our school is the family feel throughout our setting. All teachers know every child and can offer guidance and

support. Alongside this every child knows every other child in their school. This has a huge positive impact on our children’s behaviour

and ensures that it really is an environment that they feel safe, secure and happy in. Our children have a real sense of pride and

belonging in their school and always represent us beautifully during educational excursions as well as showing outstanding

sportsmanship at sporting events.

Deciding where to educate your child is an important choice, we know that you will be very pleased in your decision to join us. We hope

that you enjoyed visiting our website and that it gave you a sneak peek into what life at our fantastic school is like. Please come a visit us,

call our school secretary Miss Greatbanks on 0161 950 7868 to book a meeting and visit with myself. If you have any questions or wish to

discuss anything further please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours sincerely,

Miss E Bagnall

My child has attended Clarendon Cottage Prep School for 7 years, and I can honestly say it has been an amazing experience. She struggles with anxiety, sensory processing disorder and social difficulties; and the teachers have been nothing but supportive. She was straight away offered an Individual Education Plan to support her additional needs, and the Teachers went above and beyond to support her through this. We were offered booster clubs, lego therapy (which was amazing!!), and constant updates and meetings to put me at ease and let me know the ins and outs of her day. This then progressed to an EHCP, which I was always kept in the loop with and I really do believe that being within this school of fantastic teachers, with such small class sizes is the reason that she has flourished. Not only did they support her through the school, but helped massively through what a would have been a very stressful transition to high school. I always felt supported throughout her time there, and we will truly miss every single member of the Clarendon family. I thank you from the very bottom of my heart!

Clarendon cottage is an extremely good school if your child is a candidate for a private school. The teaching staff are friendly and approachable but this school doesn't cater for special needs. We were told by this school and the previouse that our son had behavioral problems and it was highly likely that he had adhd. After an assessment (after he left here) we were told it probably wasn't adhd but autism. We moved him to a public school after he was expelled in July last year giving us a week before the end of the school year to find another school. We managed to find a very good school where he has been accepted for who he is and has since come on leaps and bounds. Clarendon decided to kep him out of lessons which put him seriously behind because they didn't have the knowledge or staff to deal with his needs. Think twice before you look at a private school if your child has special needs as most of them don't cater for them.

My child attends this school and is very happy here, the teaching is great and there is a real family feel to the place. We chose it partly for the great wrap around care the school also provides.
