I hope that you had a lovely summer together and wish you a very warm welcome to the start of the new academic year. It has been lovely to welcome our pupils back into school today and we are all looking forward to an exciting term ahead.
Start of the Year – Key Information
The School Day – starts at 8.45am
Please remember that the School Day starts promptly at 8.45 am. It is so important to be on time for School, as key learning activities take place at this time - on basic skills such spelling, handwriting, counting and maths fluency. If your child is late, they will miss out on these vital tasks.
Therefore, the School gates will open as follows:
EYs and KS1 Gate on School Road – the gate will open at 8.30am but will close at 8.45am. Parents and Carers must wait with their child until the Classroom doors open at 8.40am.
N and KS2 Gate on Edison Road – the gate will open at 8.35am but will close at 8.45am. Nursery Parents/Carers must wait with their child until the Classroom doors open at 8.40am.
KS2 children are welcome to wait on the KS2 Playground until the Classroom doors open at 8.40am
Hours of learning per week:
This is now under review to move to a 32.5 hour week from Autumn 2.EYS: 30 hours per week
Year 1: 30.4 hours per week
Years 2-4: 30.9 hours per week
Years 5 and 6: 31.25 hours per week
Lateness
If you arrive with your child after 8.45am, the playground gates will be locked, because the staff will be supporting the children in class as the School Day will have started. After 8.45am, you will need to bring your child to the School Office to sign them in – which could take time to do this individually. Whilst we know that sometimes things happen to cause occasional lateness, it is so important to be on time for school, as this sets good expectations and good habits for life. We are very grateful for your support in getting your child to school on time.
Hometime
During this half-term, we will be reviewing our end of day times, following the recommendations of the White Paper to have done this by the end of the 2022–2023 academic year. Currently, our end of day times are as follows:
2:50 pm – Nursery and Reception
2:55 pm – Year 1
3:00 pm – Year 2
3:00 pm – Years 3 and 4
3:05 pm – Years 5 and 6
