My third child is currently going through this centre under the watchful eyes of Miss Sharon and her team. Kumon has given my kids such solid foundation in Maths especially and prepared them for grammar school. To get the best out of Kumon, i have realised that consistency and dedication is needed from staff, child and parents. I must admit this was not easy for me working and studying full time. But, with dedication and commitment we can do anything especially for our kids. I am loyal to this centre because of Miss Sharon. Her professionalism and desire for her learners to excel, encourages me to keep up will my role at home. Thank you Miss Sharon for the push and advice that I sometimes needed and for believing in my kids.

Where do I start? The markers are very stupid. They’ll mark your work and give it back to you and say the question is wrong, you give it back after it’s been corrected and they say it’s wrong again, then you correct it and so on and so forth until they realise they were wrong because they couldn’t be bothered to look in the answer book. Then there is Miss Sharon who expects you to say Miss in every sentence and treat her like absolute royalty. The environment is very damaging to your child as they treat 14 and 16 years olds like they are small children e.g asking to go to the toilet or having to wait to release them into the reception area. Instead of teaching them to be kids, they need to teach them to be adults and let them have some freedom instead of patronising them. Thirdly, the work load is very stupid, children spend 3 hours a day doing the same old paper over and over and over again which is pointless because the questions are just what is 1+2 instead of if xyz has 2 apples and abc had 3 how many are there all together? They only teach the method without applying it in real life situations leaving them stuck in exams. In conclusion, I wouldn’t bother wasting thousands here, instead I would use a CGP or similar book and go through it with your child as it is teaching relevant stuff for the exam and not stuff they will not need. Or get a 1 to 1 tutor.
