Mahogany Care Home is a 51-bedded secure care home for younger and older adult Residents and for Residents living with Dementia, providing care and accommodation. Built-in 1990, the home is located in the residential area of Newtown.

Mahogany Care Home is a purpose-built single storey home, making it ideal for people with impaired mobility. The Home specialises in providing 24-hour nursing, dementia and respite care for younger and older adults. The home provides accommodation of 47 single rooms, and 2 double rooms of which 49 are en-suite. There are two large open plan lounges, which offers both ample seating and a view of our large courtyard garden.

The main dining room lounge is a bright, large and airy space, which is tastefully decorated and furnished to create a feel of dining at home. This has direct access to the kitchen allowing Residents to request drinks and snacks in between regular meals.

Alternatively, our Residents have the comfort to interact or watch television whilst they have their meals in the open plan dining and lounge areas. Our Residents also have the comfort of enjoying afternoon tea in the conservatory.

Our corridors are filled with sensory pictures with Memory Lane photos, reading corners and other interesting features to help our Residents living with Dementia to stay stimulated.

The bedrooms are equipped with a nurse call system, smoke detector and T.V points in all rooms. Residents wishing to have their own telephone or TV will need to make their own arrangements.

There are ample toilets facilities and bathing areas provided, within close proximity to all Residents.

For those Residents who need help in bathing, we have bathrooms that are easily accessible by staff and Residents.

Specialist equipment, which includes a hoist, grab rails and aids, have all been provided to maximise the independence of our Residents. Doorways that require wheelchair access all have the required opening width. Registered Nurses are on duty 24 hours a day to ensure continuing high-quality care, and they are assisted by trained Care Assistants to ensure that personalised care and attention is provided to each Resident to maintain their dignity, self-respect and esteem.

I have worked here at Mahogany now for nearly two years ( with a break of four weeks ) . The home recently acquired a new Manager and Assistant manager who are ringing the changes in a totally positive way , with her in office we are all making 'good 'even better , and as a team we are working hard to support our fabulous residents. The support the staff now receive from our management team is very much appreciated by all . Lots of new training opportunities means we are to provide even better person centred care .

This home is a disgrace if I could give it 0 stars I would. The food is inedible. They can't keep a cook for longer that 2 weeks. They leave there elderly in bed wet through all day. The ones who can't feed themselves they just put the food in front of them and walk out. They feed diabetics with full sugar food. I'm not saying all the staff are doing this.

I was given the opportunity to work at Mahogany care home despite having no experience in care whatsoever. I have been supported from day 1 by the management and the team and I now feel part of a great family. Everyone works really hard to preserve the well-being of our residents. The cleaners, the kitchen staff the management make this care home a lovely place for our residents. I am so happy to be part of such a caring team and to care for our wonderful residents

I am the registered manager at Mahogany care home and I have very high standards. I am also a change agent and so I'm always on the look out for areas within the home that can be improved. My staff embrace this and work with me to help us achieve the very best. Every resident is so important and we consider us to be one big family. The staff work very hard and care about the residents. We care group is the best company I have worked for. They actually care about their residents and staff and are so generous. I am proud to work at Mahogany and will strive to maintain our excellent reputation and for outstanding at our next CQC inspection
