Pipers opened in 1974 and is the longest running nursery in Chorley.

There is a well established team, many of whom have been working at Pipers for over 10 years.

The nursery is divided into three age groups, the Rainbows (under 2’s) the Sunflowers (2-3years) and the Honeybees (3-5 years). However, we value children as individuals and children move rooms with developmental progress rather than being a specific age.

Rainbows – (under 2’s)

As babies we develop more quickly than at any other time in our lives. Pipers pride ourselves on our ‘homely atmosphere and loving environment’.

Highly qualified staff provide expert care and encouragement which nurtures children to learn and develop naturally as they grow. We provide a secure, happy and caring environment with lots of stimulating and fun resources to feed inquisitive minds and help develop their personalities, talents and abilities. The room is set out in exciting areas to promote learning and development, including areas for children to relax. The children often enjoy the outdoors in their own outdoor play area and by going for walks to the park or other local places of interest.

Sunflowers – (2-3 years)

This room is for children aged between 2 and 3 years, however younger children are sometimes introduced into this room if developmentally it is agreed between yourself and your child’s key worker that they are ready. The dedicated staff put their hearts and efforts into creating a warm and welcoming environment for the children they lovingly care for. The room has a self-contained bathroom and nappy changing facilities. The children also use our large outdoor play area on a daily basis to explore and learn.

Honeybees - (3-5 years)

This room is for children aged from 3 and 5 years, and provides a positive, caring and friendly environment for children to play, explore and learn the all-important skills for the best start in life. We provide opportunities to be active learners and to think critically to achieve whilst encouraging children to gain independence and confidence in the choices they make. They access our safe and secure outdoor area throughout the day.

We celebrate each child’s individuality, acknowledging everyone’s culture and offer a provision which respects children’s varying and unique needs. We aim to create a learning environment which is safe, welcoming and exciting. All rooms are defined with the seven areas of learning and development in mind.

At Pipers we believe that our staff are our best resource and many of them have worked at the nursery for many years. We strive to continue to further develop their skills and knowledge by actively encouraging them to attend further training courses. All our staff are fully qualified and have current Criminal Records Bureau checks (CRB’s) and all childcare staff have current Paediatric First Aid Certificates.

With regards to staffing numbers, we always adhere to the standards required of us by Ofsted which stipulate the following ratios:-
