What a difference a year makes. My wife just left a review and I am never one to criticise but that was one of rhe worst sykes I have had tonight. The chips were cold and tasteless. I know the fish is costly but getting smaller. Mushy peas were tastless and like they had been there 3 days and the wonderful Chinese curry that was windedul had no spice or taste what so ever. Very disappointing from a 4.7 star chippy. Serve food like that and it will not be for much longer.

This rating is not related to the quality of the food. Apparently on a Friday after 4pm they don't serve gluten free fish and chips.........I don't have a problem with this but maybe put a note on your social media page, website or when someone rings and asks about GF options make them aware of this issue

Their fish is DELICIOUS and golden chips are perfectly cooked🙌 the dining space is not huge but there is easily enough space for you to sit down and enjoy. And it's worth it because you will never ever get such a personalised service from the owner himself anywhere in Manchester. Anthony spend so much time with us and other customers, regardless the fact they get so busy that they serve around 500 portions in a day🤯🤯 that attention, welcomness and kindness of his not to mention his passion for the business was so welcomed 🥰 Food related- their batter was perfect, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside keeping that fish moist🐟 however the big suprise was the pan fried lemon sole. Soooo fresh, flaky full of flavour🤤🤤 cooked to perfection 🤤🤤 next time we want to try their curried sole, sounds like something right up my street😎 there is so much godness in their menu. Their chips are second to none

You cannot knock the food but the reconfiguration is an utter disaster. The cash tills are spread too far apart meaning that a few customers are afforded ample space whilst those behind them are queuing outside because of this waste of space. With a two door system and people queuing out the door, there is an almighty draught and people were literally shivering (unnecessarily) both inside and out. Staff from the local supermarket were allowed to jump the queue (which grated other customers besides me) and despite the queues and draught, one member of staff insisted on chatting... and chatting... and chatting to every single customer that she served. It took me over 20 minutes to get served. I'm sure people will weigh up the quality of food vs the waiting experience. I'll give it one more try in a few weeks but if things haven't improved I'll give it a miss in future.

Today I have changed my mind about the best Fish & Chips in Manchester, great texture of the fish and taste of chips kicked out Anchors Didsbury of 1st place. I get to the shop just before closing 30mins, and woow the queue was big, although it is worth to wait 20mins to enjoy it. Big thanks! See you next time.
