Topaz Cafe

The Hub is a great place to meet, eat and relax, with a freshly made coffee served by our friendly, barista trained staff and volunteers. The Hub also provides a gateway for people to access the huge range of services that Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind has to offer. All of our food is made in our commercial kitchen by our qualified and time-served staff and volunteers. The quality of the food is exceptional and is created using ingredients from Fareshare, who deliver food to non-profit organisations (such as ourselves) from supermarkets that would normally be discarded. We also receive donations from Marks and Spencer's charity partnership program Neighbourly, which is used to help us create various meals. Creating meals is a passion for all the people working in the kitchen and also the staff and volunteers of TOG Mind and while we do offer some staple favourites on our menu, we also create unique meals based on the fresh ingredients we recieve that day, so there is always something new to try at Topaz. We love to receive recipe ideas from staff and customers which we will use from time to time to offer tasty new meals for you to try. Firm favourites have been some of our delicious currys, pies and a special sprout cake at Christmas (don't knock it til you've tried it!) Because we are a vegetarian café, most of our food is healthy, nutritious and provides a good few of your 5 a day! But for the times you want to treat yourself we also have Topaz Treats, our delicious cakes and bakes that are made freshly to tempt your taste buds.

I called in to the Topaz Cafe a couple of weeks back with my granddaughter, my first visit. Couldn't believe my own good luck! The menu is either vegetarian or vegan, the sourcing is from great food that would otherwise have ended up in landfill, the prices are great, the food is out of this world, lovely staff, comfy sofas and the premises are also a centre for the Mind organisation ( ie, addressing mental health) Well, it sure ticked all the boxes for me - an absolute delight, I would recommend this cafe to anyone and everyone.

Food is well overpriced, I am not one for moaning at the price of food but the portions are so small and never do they ask you what you want in your salad or if you want this or that, is it to much trouble to ask? When you do ask they look like they are looking at a brick wall. Anyway I have been 4 times and each time the food has been 6 / 10
